Rock n Roller Coaster avec Aerosmith will close permanently on Monday 2nd September 2019 to make way for its Marvel retheme.
The attraction’s infinite demise has been on the cards for quite some time now. Back in 2018 it was announced that the E-Ticket would be completely rethemed based on Iron Man and the Avengers.
Although a name is yet to be announced for Rock n Roller Coaster’s replacement, we do know it will be the first addition in a brand new Marvel area within Walt Disney Studios Park.
This of course is part of the forthcoming €2 billion expansion to see the comic book giant join Star Wars and Frozen into the Disneyland Paris second gate.
The coaster joins Art of Disney Animation as permanent closures to make way for the future of the park. Earlier this month saw both Armageddon and Disney Junior Live on Stage receive their dates of final operation. Other attractions and restaurants are expected for the cutting room floor as time progresses include the entirety of Backlot (Moteurs… Action, Blockbuster Cafe, Cafe des Cascadeurs) and Restaurant des Stars.
Part of the original nine attractions from 2002, Rock n Roller Coaster avec Aerosmith was a day 1 attraction at Walt Disney Studios Park and Disneyland Paris’ third inverted roller coaster. Although based on the original version from Disney Hollywood Studios, WDS’ version attempted to include the “working studio” theme of old by taking guests into the production of a music video by the titular rock band.
Are you sad to see the original Aerosmith theme leave Rock n Roller Coaster? Are you excited to truly see signs of the Marvel future coming to Backlot? I’d love to hear your thoughts so let me know over on Twitter!
