The Festival of Pirates & Princesses is back! After last year’s overwhelming popularity of the season Disneyland Park promises to turn colourful once again as it makes way for Betty Rose, Jimmy Ocean and the rest of the crew to do battle in the ultimate of showdowns, pirate or princess.
With the original outing running during the Springtime, guests were wowwed with the brightly coloured costumes and floats at the perfect time. This year the season is already facing an uphill battle running during the coldest of the French Winter months.
As ships are making port and crowns are being shined, Disneyland Paris has now revealed the full line-up of what to expect this year at the season.
Disney Pirate of Princess: Make Your Choice!
It was the flagship (pun intended) story of last year’s festival, and it’s set to return for 2019. Disney Pirate or Princess: Make Your Choice! is a half parade, half show extravaganza prompting guests to join in on the fun and pledge their allegiance to their preferred side. The promise of more than one showing a day means that the indecisive of us can get the best of both worlds before fully choosing a side.
Hoist the Flags, Matey!
Returning again for another year is the pirate filled Hoist the Flags, Matey! The interactive show lead by none other than Captain Jack Sparrow brings Adventureland into the Festival of Pirates & Princesses turning guests into buccaneers with a jolly old sing song.
This may be one to keep a watchful eye on the weather for, however. Last year the show was plagued by sudden cancellations due to unagreeable conditions.
*Begins Wednesday 23rd January
Taking the side of Team Princess is the Princess Promenade along Central Plaza. Guests can join in with their favourite heroines as they find their inner power with the likes of Sofia the First and Elena of Avalor joining in on the fun.
The Festival of Pirates & Princesses returns to Disneyland Park from Saturday 19th January and runs until Sunday 17th March 2019.
While it does on paper look like a very light season, especially compared to the Legends of the Force offerings next door, its immense popularity leaves me hopeful for a fun time. Pirates & Princesses almost instantly became a fan favourite and has returned solely because of fanbase demand which surely must be a testament to its quality.
After missing the inaugural season last year I am very curious to experience the festival for myself when it launches on 19th January. Be sure to keep an eye on here for my review and following on Twitter as I live tweet my initial thoughts and opinions of Pirates & Princesses!
