Disneyland Paris celebrates St David’s Day 2020

Disneyland Paris celebrates all things Welsh with a return of the St David’s Day Festival for 2020.

Now an annual celebration, each beginning of March sees the Saint David’s Day Festival come to the resort through a splash of traditional music, characters and entertainment. Although the Welsh day fell on 2nd March this year DLP decided to wait a week until hosting their own festivities.

Music and Celtic glee could be found all throughout Town Square once again with the Disney Fanfare welcoming guests this morning.

The rest of the morning and afternoon saw more fun return to Videopolis with music from a number of Welsh groups including Ysgol Gyfun Glantaf and Only Men Aloud.

Joining the action in Discoveryland to celebrate St David’s Day was none other than Mickey and Minnie along with Chip & Dale and Goofy donning their newly traditionally inspired outfits just for the occasion.

Aside from music Videopolis also provided free face painting for those looking to celebrate the day in their own style.

Seeing out the night in Disneyland Park was the debut of a brand new light projection show just before Disney Illuminations. Inspired by previous pre-shows such as Earth Day and the World’s Biggest Mouse Party, this short show was a celebration of Wales and its colourful culture in a uniquely Disneyland Paris way.

Disneyland Park isn’t the own place to find St David’s Day fun among Marne La Vallée. Disney Village has seen live music on offer all throughout the weekend with a Welsh twist at Billy Bob’s Country Saloon, offering older guests a chance to dance well into the night.

St. David’s Day is a celebration long held in Disneyland Paris but this year’s entry is certainly signs that it is growing within Europe’s No.1 tourist destination. The addition of an pre-Illuminations show essentially promotes the festival to the same height of Irish St. Patrick’s Day.

Have you ever stayed in Disneyland Paris during St. David’s Day? Is it a celebration that would tempt you towards booking a trip during this time of year? I’d love to hear your thoughts over on Twitter!
